Ziggy One Year Later

Things are kind of slow, kitten-wise, here in the beginning of February. That’s pretty typical, as it’s pre-kitten season. I have told The Universe that I am out of tiny kittens, and ready for a new batch, and that usually does the trick. Last time I did that I ended up with an embarrassment of riches, kitten-wise, and had to turn a couple away – I’m hoping for something more moderate than that, but you can’t always choose!

Also, we all go socked with a nasty cold bug about a week ago, and are all slowly trying to climb out from under it. I finally managed to clear the dishes today – it had gotten BAD! It’s probably a really GOOD thing the Universe didn’t give me kittens this week!

Last night, my friend Amy, who adopted previously-tiny Ziggy last year sent me an adorable pic of him now that he’s just over a year old.

Ziggy, now Ruti, hugging his own head

This prompted me to see what was going on here, kitten-wise, a year ago. We just had Zoraline and her little Ziggy then. And Ziggy was finally properly out of the woods from his starvation-scare, and turning into quite a character!

It got tricky to take this progress picture in Aidon’s hands – he was wiggly!

He had self-grooming for cute effect down weeks ago…

And he finally learned how to use the box, which sure was a relief to both me AND Zoraline!

No, really, I was really glad! This was pretty funny, actually. He woke himself up peeing on me. He looks a little startled.

So okay, I’m ready! Bottle babies – where are you? 😉

Aw, it’s so nice to see him all grown up. It was through his and Zora’s story that I discovered your blog, and twitter :))
To me he’ll always be Ziggy, in my world ruti is the name we give to chapatis (indian bread) it’s a bit weird 😉 Then again one of my favourite cats ever was called Alambic (which is a still in French)

Heehee… In my world, ZigZag / Ziggy was already taken by the kitten we adopted about a 18 months before Ziggy2 came around. Ruti is an alternate name for the Egyptian deity Aker, the ancient god of the horizon. Akeru is often represented by two spotted Barbary lions sitting back to back. Our spotted lion certainly has the cat-itude of a mythological god! (though honestly he adores bread & popcorn, so being named for a chapati would be fine w/ him!) :)
Lately we’ve been putting Roo through his paces on a cat agility course. I’ll try to post a video soon for ppl to see!

      cheers,
      Amy

*looks around* I still see a lack of kittens!

You’ll be pleased to know that Mister I Refuse to Eat Anything (Also known as Norman) made it through a rather difficult week of syringe feeding and decided to eat on his own. :) A month later he’s put on three pounds and is a stunning figure of an orange cat. He owes that in no small part to your years of posting stories about fostering, scary moments and all. Since I’d been following your foster stories, I was a lot calmer as he threw complected situations at me. :) So many thanks from me and the Normster. :)

I’m now developing a reputation as a very calm foster for sick cats. Which means I’ve got another sick one landing tonight. :) You rock. Hey universe, send Kimberly some kittens will ya? :)

    • Kimberly says:

That is AWESOME! Thanks for sharing and letting me know – that’s awesome!

And yes – there are still no new kittens! The Universe is totally holding out on me! I’m itching for new bottle babies!

      Yay Norman!!!
